Biodiversity

While with Environment Canada, Lee Harding prepared an assessment of biodiversity in British Columbia that established the model for subsequent national and provincial science assessments of biodiversity; led an evaluation of the ecosystem health of all major river basins in the Pacific and Yukon Region; and chaired an Environment Canada team that developed an ecosystem management plan for the Georgia Basin which has since become a major program of the Department.  His book, Biodiversity in British Columbia: our changing environment, created a new genre of science assessment and stimulated national and provincial advances in forest and grassland management and ecosystem conservation.
